Real Restoration Helps Restore Historic Gold Coast Multifamily After Fire, Preserving One of Chicago’s Beloved Properties
Real Restoration Group, a seasoned restoration and construction company based in Chicago continues to show time and time again the strength of their firm lies in their ability to execute construction and emergency restoration projects no matter the property type, size or scope.
Built in 1901, the Historic former Bush Temple of Music piano showroom reopened in late 2017 as boutique rental apartments. A designated Chicago Landmark, the ornate building, built in the French Renaissance Revival style is hard to miss on the corner of Chicago Avenue and Clark Street.
Unfortunately a ‘very smoky’ deck fire atop the historic Near North apartment building drew lots of attention when it went up in flames, luckily causing no injuries or structural damage beyond repair. However, when disaster strikes and people become displaced, it’s a race against the clock and the Real Restoration team acts immediately to begin mitigation and restoration to restore displaced residents.
About the Damage
The historic building’s roof and rooftop deck was badly burnt in the fire. Units and common areas took heavy smoke and water damage as well. Meanwhile, the building being occupied with residents further highlights the importance of calling in an experienced and professional team, as RR ensured they were still able to access their apartment dwellings throughout the entire restoration process. The RR Team strives to execute the restoration process in a timely and professional manner.
Historic preservation consultants were brought in and worked hand in hand with ownership’s public adjuster on the scene. Real Restoration deployed their own expert architecture firms and consultants, and were able to expedite the permits and fast-track the restoration process.
All displaced occupants are now back in their homes enjoying the wonderful community.
“Special thanks to the Chicago Fire Department, architects, consultants, and building ownership for their incredible efforts and immediate response allowing residents to safely return to their apartments just a few hours after the fire which is always our number one priority.”
